5 Tips when de-rigging your boat

The main sheet should be cleated loosely so that there is no downward tension on the boom.  In other words, the sheet between the cleat and the end of the boom should be slack, not taut.

Before leaving our dock, please check all the boats:

  • three dock line attached to each boat: bow, stern and spring dock lines
  • Victories in the middle secured alongside another Victory with bow and stern and spring lines
  • fenders are in place and functioning to protect boat sides bumping each other
  • boats are not taking on any water
  • jib and main halyards are secure
  • the blue main sail covers are on and secure
  • dock boxes are closed and locked
  • hoses are stowed and spigots closed
