When sailing, you need to be prepared for varying conditions. In San Diego we are spoiled with very pleasant weather year round.
- Long trousers or shorts.
- Non slip boat shoes or running shoes (tennis shoes) with light soles that will not mark up the deck.
- T-shirt or shirt.
- If you are sensitive to the sun wear long sleeves
- Your favorite hat, with a draw string to prevent it blowing away
- Sunglasses
- Windbreaker or jacket
- Rain jacket or waterproof jacket or top. This provides protection of rain and ocean spray on windy days.
- Staying warm is important. When your body temperature drops, your ability to remain clear diminishes and your decision making and sailing skills declines.
- Gloves are recommended for rope handling. Usually open finger to allow dexterity
- Additional layers work very well
